It is best known for the tall bony spines on its back and its long, crocodile-like jaws that may have been good for catching fish. The first and most complete fossil skeleton of this giant meat-eater ever found was discovered in an Egyptian oasis in 1912, and then shipped to a museum in Munich, Germany. Unfortunately, the skeleton was destroyed during a British bombing of Munich during World War II.
